Who is the US-China Green Energy Council?
US-China Green Energy Council (UCGEC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in Federal and California governments and based in Silicon Valley.
The UCGEC honorary chairman is U.S. Congressman and Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Mr. Mike Honda. The UCGEC Chairman is Professor Robert S. Wu, the president of University of California-Berkeley Chinese Alumni International Association, and The former chairman of Institute of International Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Dr. Robert E. Larson is the President of UCGEC.
The mission of UCGEC is to promote and strengthen U.S. and China collaboration in Green Energy by facilitating high impact clean-tech collaborative initiatives and projects between the U.S. and China and serving as a platform for the integration of policy, business, investment, and R&D projects for the two countries. The UCGEC includes six Task Forces such as Smart Grid, Clean Transportation, Green Building and Eco-City, Renewable Energy, Green IT, and Green Investment. Each task force is co-lead by the top business leaders and senior experts in this field in both countries. The UCGEC also has the advisory board in China, which consists of Chinese Academician, Counselor of the State Council, University Chairman, former minister and professors.
The UCGEC has successfully sponsored and co-organized many high level US-China academic, business and governmental exchange activities, including a total of five US-China Green Energy Conferences, an International Green Energy Forum, and a US-China Mayor Summit etc. The China’s Vice Chairman of CPPCC and the Chairman of China Science and Technology Association, Dr Han Qide, the U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congressman Mike Honda, the China former ambassador to U.S. Zhou, Wenzhou, the U.S. former ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, and the officials from U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Commerce either had attended in person or sent the congratulation letters or welcoming remark videos to the conferences. Many Chinese and foreign experts also attended the conferences, including executives of Fortune 500 companies, investors, entrepreneurs, senior Chinese government officials and policy makers, and academics. In addition, UCGEC has organized several well attended seminars about green energy. UCGEC has also organized meetings for several visiting Chinese delegations from local governments, enterprises and organizations to meet with the US counterparts in the local governments, companies and organizations. At the same time, UCGEC has organized high level US clean tech delegations visiting China. Given these series of activities, UCGEC is devoted itself to facilitate information exchange, technical cooperation and project matching between US and China.
